Baroque Orange was originally created to be a part of Furuba.org. The girl who bought the domain, Birdy, had told me about her plans to create a domain that would act as a center of Fruits Basket related character shrines and other miscellaneous sites. It sounded like a really neat idea and I wanted to hop aboard the project. I didn't actually have a Fruits Basket related site at the time, although it was (and still is) a favourite series of mine and I was considering a shrine to Kyo. The talk about Furuba.org kind of sealed the deal. ^^;
After a while, Kyo kind of fell down the ranks of favourite characters in Furuba. Shigure took his place and I was considering making a shrine to him too but Baroque Orange was never neglected for very long. There was a few months here and there where I became preoccupied with other things but I always came back to update it when I found out something new in the plot of Fruits Basket. Over the period of time that the site was up, I tried really hard to keep everything up to date, and to make Baroque Orange the place to be for anything related to Kyo.
Some time after April 2003, Baroque Orange was put offline for a while. Birdy had given Alex (the owner of a number of other character shrines on the domain) complete control over Furuba.org as she had lost interest in the project. However, a few months after this, Alex decided to delete all of her sites and leave the internet. She gave Furuba.org back to Birdy and I believe it was during this time that the domain was being transferred to a new host. But that's the last that I ever heard about the project, disappointingly enough.
Normally, I would have just moved the site over to my main domain, Genrou.com, however... because everything was deleted during the transfer back to Birdy, I wasn't able to get an appropriate back up. The previous one I had was corrupted. I was lucky enough to find the majority of the content for the site backed up on Google and the Wayback Machine, but in terms of wallpapers, avatars and gallery images... well, those were all lost for good. A lot of hard work was lost as was my willpower to bring Baroque Orange back online.
However... my love for Fruits Basket and Kyo (who still remains to be one of my favourite characters in the series) prevailed and in late May 2004, I decided to bring the shrine back to life. Images were found again, wallpapers and avatars were re-created, a new layout was made and information was edited to be up to date with the current happenings in the manga. So here it is: Baroque Orange at it's new home on Genrou.com. ^^
